The next time you find yourself in Midtown Manhattan looking for that delicious something to satisfy your sweet tooth, why not try something special?
New York Sweets, a self-described 'tarte shoppe' and Confectionary, which opened its doors on October '18, offers slices of childhood memories in the form of 'old school' homemade pastries, gelato, bread pudding, and donuts.
While New York Sweets appreciates the traditional, its seasonal menu delightfully plays off of existing favorites by putting a clever (and mouth-watering) twist on good old classics: deep-dish cookies in flavors like coconut-balsamic, salted chocolate chip, and Saigon cinnamon or homemade bread pudding topped with decadent caramel sauce and honey - candied pecans, are guaranteed to make your taste buds dance!
Just recently, for Valentine's Day, New York Sweets created two new flavors of its homemade bite-sized truffles: Espresso Love, lightly dusted with coco powder, as well as Passion Fruit & Callebaut Milk Chocolate. So clever, so heart-melting!
And if you are a fellow cupcake lover (why oh, why can I not live off of those?), you will treasure the raspberry-Nutella and salted chocolate caramel cupcake as much as I do.
And have I mentioned that New York Sweets offers breakfast?
Since this is my most cherished meal of the day, this is my favorite part to write (and I am getting hungry for a second breakfast as I am typing this): whether you indulge in the organic yogurt parfaits (with fresh berries, shredded coconut, carob chips, toasted nuts, dried fruits, and homemade granola) or the freshly made, hot & healthy oatmeal (with steel-cut gluten-free oats and a wide array of toppings) - either one will help you start off your day on the right...well, bite.
And if yogurt and oatmeal do nothing to lift your morning mood, New Yorks's Sweets' warm croissants (plain, chocolate, almond, multi-grain), scones ("Maple Oat", "Cranberry Orange", "Berry - Berry", and "Savory Cheddar Chive"), brioche filled egg sandwich or hearty frittatas will surely do the trick!
So go, support local, indulge - and let me know what you think!
